The Standing Committee of JPPC

  According to the Constitution of the People’s Republic of China and the laws concerned, JPPC began to set up its Standing Committee in 1979 in charge of the work during the recess of the JPPC. Its main duties are to exercise the power of local legislation, the power of deciding major issues, the power of supervision, and the power of personnel appointing and dismissing.

 

Composition of the Standing Committee of JPPC

  According to the Local Organization Law, the Standing Committee may consist of 35-65 persons, who are elected from and by the deputies to JPPC; and their membership is five years.

  The Standing Committee of the Twelfth JPPC is composed of one chairman, 9 vice chairmen, one secretary-general and 54 members. 

The Standing Committee Meeting of JPPC  

  The Standing Committee meetings are convened by the chairman, and should be held at least once every other month. 

  The decisions or decrees to be made by the Standing Committee should be passed by voting of over half of the total members (including the chairman, vice chairmen and secretary-general).
